And now my life has changed in, oh, so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.

But every now and then I feel so insecure... )

Blog 007: You Know Who's Really Slender? [Jul. 20th, 2010|12:50 pm]
OMFG Paris HIlton is totally responsible for that creepy ass alphadecay shit! DO NOT VOTE HER INTO ANY LEGISLATIVE BODY THAT GOVERNS ANYTHING OR SHE WILL RELEASE CREEPY PHANTOMS UPON THE CITY OF NEW YORK! You have been warned!

I bet she's also involved with the Mysterious ATM Bombers/Mysterious Mailbox Bombers... I SMELL CONSPIRACY!

VLOG 003: Party in the U.S.A. [Jul. 6th, 2010|07:08 pm]

[Video is simply a shot from someone's lap on a roller coaster, and documents the entirety of the 1:12 minute ride. The sounds of rattling tracks, whooshing wind, and gleeful screams. At one point someone, probably the invisible camera girl, shouts, "GOD BLESS AMERICA!" (caps included). Cut to black over the sound of breathless giggles.]

Blog 006: ATMs are a step up [Jun. 28th, 2010|09:57 am]
Ok, Mysterious ATM Bombers, at least you managed to show up the Mysterious Mailbox Bombers (who, if you'll recall, are LAME). The MMB ain't got nothing on you, you've proven that much (that is if you're not the same dudes, and frankly, I'm not sure that you're not). Not gonna lie, I'm excited to see what you come up with for the 4th.

In related news (except not really): I got an A on my Documentary Workshop project. I'LL BE GRADUATING BY AUGUST FOR SURE, BITCHES. ...long as I ace that Spanish quiz next week. And study up on my film history. And start on my final projects. fml

Edit (6/28/29, 16:07): HOLY GOD IN HEAVEN, LIZ SHIPTON LINKED ME ON HER SITE? I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO BE THRILLED OR APPALLED! SOMEBODY CLARIFY MY FEELINGS FOR ME!

Blog 005: Mailboxes are LAME [Jun. 2nd, 2010|08:57 pm]
Well, at least somebody's saying something. But mailboxes? Really? Is that just a riff on "going postal," or are we commenting on the free exchange between districts? Or what? What gives, Mysterious Mailbox Bombers? If the MMB wanted to make a real statement, I'd think headlines were important, and that would mean subtly goes out the window. Right? I don't know. I guess mystery is your game, friend, and that's cool, but isn't the NYPD going to keep ignoring you like a bunch of kids if you don't do more than subtly blow up some mailboxes around town? But maybe that's what you want, a complete dismissal from the authorities as nothing but a bunch of reckless kids. I don't see what that gets you, but hey, man, to each his own. I guess I'm not mysterious enough to get it.

Blog 005: PacWOman [May. 27th, 2010|03:09 pm]
Stories like this DO NOT get enough notice: "3-D Pacman Experience to Translate 8-Bit Gaming Into Real-Life Experience." HOLY SHIT, GUYS.

My only complaint, however, is: excuse you, Patriarchy, where is 3-D MS. PACMAN??

VLOG 002: EDITED [May. 18th, 2010|08:38 pm]

[The video beings with the close-up of a woman's face. Without looking directly into the camera, she recounts a story, in heavily accented English, about a Saturday night raid on her family's apartment. Her speech is intercut with bits of Spanish. The introductory notes of "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down" (the Alicia Keys solo version, from way back in 2010) are heard, as the woman's voice and image fade into what becomes a series of close shots on faces and wide shots on messy apartment floors, intermingled with street signs, the exteriors of buildings, and the backs of policemen on the beat, and ultimately concludes with an especially poignant shot of the Statue of Liberty. It's clearly been made quickly, is not the most innovative in filmography, and is, for the most part, lacking in any sort of narrative, but it is filled with the pathos, and definitely gets the point across.]

Blog 004: Naked is as naked does [May. 4th, 2010|06:19 pm]
At this point, I feel like the Naked Cowboy is just fucking INSENSITIVE, given the homelessness in this city--and all over the country, for that matter. Great for him, he gets to come out in his underpants for the warm season, but how many dudes had to survive the winter with little more than a small coat? Not to mention the fact that many of them probably come from the south-west, WHERE THERE ARE COWBOYS! Idk, I'm not one of them, but I'm still offended by you, Naked Dude.

Also, he's not even naked. FALSE ADVERTISING!

Who's surprised that expats are giving up their citizenship, anyway? It's not like our country is exactly welcoming them home anytime soon.

And if you need a nuclear fucking bomb as an excuse to come out of the closet, facing your family about your sexual preferences is the LEAST of your problems. Just saying.

Blog 002: Let's Drive Away [Apr. 16th, 2010|09:41 am]
If you are looking for a ride to anywhere between NYC and Chicago, I have four empty seats and room for minimal luggage. No payment required. It's a long drive, and I am just looking for company...

I've given it a lot of thought, and while risking the ride from Mr. Craigslist is probably a stupid idea, roadtripping is almost always a SMART idea. When I came to New York, despite my best efforts, my parents wouldn't give me the car, and I had to fly. Thereby getting stuck here (no offense, Max) without ever having had that epic cross-country roadtrip that defines our youth. Now, I still want to believe that Mr. Craigslist is just a poor, lonely fellow (and if you're reading this, sir, maybe you should make friends at church, frequent a friendly pub, or join a bowling team), but as I am not ballzy enough to take the stranger up on his offer, I think it's time to start planning for an inevitable roadtrip myself. That last Big Hurrah before college ends and I become a Craigslist desperado myself, sad, lonely, and completely sans bowling team.

Blog 001: The Phoenix Hurricane [Apr. 5th, 2010|03:47 pm]
If nobody else is going to say it, I will: will Revenant RISE AGAIN from this latest catastrophe??

Seriously, I think Creger cursed the film productions with some black candles, or something. That is, assuming she INTENDED for the book versions to turn out as they did in the first place...

VLOG 001: UNEDITED RIOT FOOTAGE FROM LAST NIGHT! [Mar. 18th, 2010|08:57 am]

The video begins with a close-up the Eleventh Hour's bassist, but with the sound of some sort of unintelligible commotion off-screen, the camera pans left, zooms out, in, out again. Rioters are then caught on film only moments after the upset has begun, and so the faces of those on screen are confused and frantic. Prue, who had remained silent while filming the musicians, starts an impromptu voiceover: "The Eleven Hour, in what appears to have been an attempt at subtly, has instigated a violent reaction to the passing of the Housing and Redistricting Act, which went through only yesterday. The concert attendees are--FUCK!" The camera is shaken violently off its target, then returned to the current subject: a young man in sunglasses pummeling a youth in plaid. "The concert attendees have gone wild with passion over the issue at--Jesus, WATCH IT!" This continues for roughly three minutes.
